Competent & Experienced: Established in 1887

Our company was founded when area farmers did not have access to insurance protection. Fortunately, they didn’t let that stop them. They banded together, forming a co-op of policyholders, each supporting the other – spreading replacement and repair costs amongst themselves during times of natural disaster and loss. Thus the Township Mutual was born, and to be more precise, Mid-State was well on its way to being established.

Mid-State Mutual Insurance Company is not only the result of a farmer-based co-op but also multiple mergers. The township mutuals, Iosco and Otisco, originally merged. Some years later, Sharon Mutual merged with them, forming what is now known as Mid-State Mutual Insurance Company, based in Waseca, MN.

Today, with a successful history behind us, we are stronger than ever and hold true to our original principles of helping each other in times of need. Our policyholders still own us and maintain Annual Meetings, which all of them are invited to attend. Our growing history and reputation for delivering industry-leading insurance protection have expanded our service area to include 20 counties.
